Description

THE BEATLES - RARE PRESSING - I WANT TO HOLD YOUR HAND:   This is your chance to bid on this scarce pressing of the classic BEATLES single I WANT TO HOLD YOUR HAND.   This is a very unusual pressing as it is the SOLID CENTRE pressing. It is known that a second pressing followed the initial 1963 pressing in 1968 & this was issued with the SOLID CENTRE as opposed to the standard PUSH OUT CENTRE.   However, as far as we know, all 1968 pressing carried the "Sold In The UK..." wording in the centre of the record. The item for sale here does not have this wording in the centre.   As the "Sold in the UK..." wording came in in 1964 one can safely say that this is a 1963 pressing WITH A SOLID CENTRE.   The vinyl carries the following stamp marks:   A Side - I WANT TO HOLD YOUR HAND:

  • GDG at 12 o clock
  • 7XCE 17559 -1N at 3 o'clock
  • Purchase tax code KT 15 at 6 o'clock
  • Under the "1N" in the run out groove there are 2 dots stamped into the vinyl.
Side B - THIS BOY:
  • LA at 4 o clock
  • 7XCE 175570 -1LN at 7 o'clock
  • KT at 10 o clock
  • Under the "1N" in the run out groove there are 3 dots stamped into the vinyl.
The presence of the Purchase Tax code would date it between 1963 and January 1969, when Purchase Tax was in effect.   You can see from the label photos that the NCB text and UPPER CASE PARLOPHONE wording around the label.   I also own one of the 1968 second pressings & the label font and print is different to this item here which leads me to think this is a highly unusual 1963 pressing.   VINYL: The vinyl is in excellent condition. There are some light surface marks which may cause the odd pop or click but that is only to be expected from a sixties record. There is a very slight defect in the vinyl near the edge. It is not a warp as the vinyl looks perfectly flat when viewed from the side. The defect is only really noticeable on the B side & it does not effect the sound quality.   SLEEVE: The original PARLOPHONE company sleeve is in excellent condition. It is a 1967 sleeve. If you would prefer a 1963 sleeve please let me know.   Photos show the actual item:   Fully guaranteed. (If not satisfied, we refund - in full.)   P&P: First 7" single £1.25 (UK), £2.25 (Eur), £2.75 (other zones*).           Multiples** - for each extra single add 40p (UK), 70p (Eur) & £1 (other zones*)   *other zones - USA, Canada, Australia, Japan.  **these rates apply to regular 7" singles only (excluding picture discs).     (Ask for a multiple rate if including 7" picture discs in your order.)
