Description
This is an auction for The Beatles LP, Please Please Me.
This was released by Parlophone records in 1963 and has catalogue number PMC1202. This is the 4th press with a black and yellow label with "The Parlophone Co Ltd" and "Recording First Published 1963" label text. This also comes with a Ernest J. Day sleeve with a large "Mono" on the front cover. Please check the pictures for clarification.
Matrix: XEX 421 1N XEX 422 1N
Condition: The sleeve comes in nice condition with some very light discolour marks seen on the rear, the bottom rear flipback edge has minimal peeling back, buffing to the very corners and lastly a few lamination creases seen under close examination. Spine & Edges Ex, no tears, bends or creases, lamination at mouth ex, a nice looking sleeve and graded at VG+
This comes with its original inner sleeve which is in fine condition.
Both labels are clean and look near new, under a strong light some spindle trails can be seen on each side, the centre hole shows a touch of wear. Please check the pics on supersize.
The vinyl retains its new shine and looks clean in normal light, Under closer examination one tiny deep scratch and a few feather scratches can be seen. I have play tested this record and found that the tiny deep scratch, seen at the end of track two on side two, causes this to jump twice. This scratch is minute in size but as stated very deep and only effects the record for two rotations. Otherwise this played through fine with no other noteworthy audible surface noises. The audio is actually very strong and except where noted plays with very little lessening in sound quality. No distortion, fading or dragging and no crackle or hiss. This does not appear to suffer from much, if any, reduction in sound quality due to wear and other than the very occasional very quiet crackle played fine.
Obviously I can only grade this at fair due to the two jumps, fact is if you can live without the very end of track two on side two this may be for you as the audio is certainly VG+ or better through 98 percent of this record.
Probably not for the purist but certainly better than graded and a worthy gap filler with a nice sleeve.
