Description
For sale is a very rare, very early stereo issue of the Beatles debut album Please Please Me.
This is the 3rd uk press, type 2, where the labels are the new Black and Yellow parlophone design, but without the ‘Recording First Published’ text. As with these transitional early copies, the record itself is pressed using the 1P and 1G stampers.
The E J DAY Sleeve, not the original sleeve from the first press copies, is in a solid VG condition with all edges intact and just some staining to the rear as an issue.
The Use Emitex inner in VG + condition
Visually side one is VG, and side two is VG-, with some small scratches.
Sonically both sides are at least VG-, in that they play through without any sticks skips or jumps, but there are crackles and clicks on a few tracks. Not an audiophile copy but an enjoyable uninterrupted listen all round. There were far fewer stereo copies issued in the early 60’s as few people had stereo players at home.
