Beatles Please Please Me – Mono – PMC 1202
Really nice example of a very collectable Black & Gold label first press.

Vinyl Appearance
Really nice thick black shiny vinyl. Scuffs and light scratches visible if held up to strong light. I would say VG+ for appearance.
Playing quality
Side 1: Some low level fuzziness / crackling between tracks, mostly drowned out by the music. Two scratches cause a light double click towards end of Ana and start of Chains. No skips or jumps. Based on Record Collector grading I would say Very Good.
Side 2: Fuzziness / crackling slightly more noticeable than side 1. No skips or jumps. Based on Record Collector grading I would say Good.
Labels
Again, very nice. I would say VG+. No writing, tax code MT on side 1. These are the very first press ‘Dick James’ variety.
Inner sleeve is original EMITEX with no splits fold or tears, excellent condition.
Outer sleeve is original Ernest J Day ‘gold first press’ variety with Angus Mc Bean photo credit to extreme bottom right of front cover. Later ‘yellow parlophone’ covers have this photo credit further left. Front is very clean with some laminate lift / creasing. Laminate indentation to top of sleeve shows someones name – no ink present, as if someone wrote their name on a piece of paper whilst leaning on the cover (I’m being very picky here).
Rear of cover is in good condition. At some stage the top and bottom flipbacks and left hand side had sticky tape covering them. Tape no longer present but dark mark remains. See photo. Card surface has peeled in a couple of areas. No writing anywhere. Top of sleeve is split above the ‘Mono’ word in the top right hand corner.
Based on Record Collector grading I would say cover is Good.
