From my own collection that I'm down-sizing . . . .
This is the first album from Swell Maps with its inner sleeve and including the 7" 4-track single. I bought it at the time of release in 1979 and has been with me ever since so it's a first pressing.
I've played it very occasionally over the years on good equipment so it is still in very good condition. I also found some contemporary press cuttings inside the sleeve so I'll include them as well.
The LP sleeve is in very good condition with just a touch of ringwear and edge rubbing from storage. The inner sleeve is in excellent condition.
The vinyl LP looks shiny and new with just some light surface rubbing and handful of very small handling marks that can been seen on very close inspection. I've just checked some sections of the vinyl now using a Pro-ject deck and it plays really well with just a touch of the usual vinyl crackle but it's very quiet between tracks so you can tell that it's hardly ever been played. The runouts are etched as follows: Side 1 - ROUGH 2 A₁ S - 3 EG SHOWS HOW MUCH COOKING I DO Side 2 - P.W.O.R. ROUGH 2 B1 S - 3 EG
The sleeve of the 7" single is very good with just some slight rubbing. It has the printed illustrations on one side and is plain on the other.
The vinyl of the 7" looks very shiny and I suppose although I must have played it at some point I can't remember ever doing so. Looking closely the B-side has a couple of very light surface marks but both sides play fine with perhaps just a touch more crackle on the lead-ins than the LP, as is common with 7" singles. The runouts are etched as follows: Side A - GEAR 5 - A1 VEG DONT WEAR LEOPARD SKIN Side B - GEAR 5 B1 EG SWELL MAPS AMUSE CHILDREN
The press cuttings are in the pictures and look like they are taken from Sounds magazine. As well as an interview there are two copies of Dave McCullough's review of this album.
