Description

Original 1984 Philadelphia Saturn Records release. Sun Ra & His Arkestra *A Fireside Chat with Lucifer*; Saturn Gemini Records 19841. Recorded in NYC, September 1982, issued in 1983. One of the most collectible of Ra's '80s recordings. Contains the first recording of the amazing call-and-response song, "Nuclear War" ("It's a motherf* * * * * , don't you know? / If they push that button, your ass got to go. . . ."), which has been covered by Yo La Tengo, (four times, if memory serves!) and the Violent Femmes' Brian Ritchie, on a 12" on SST, among others. This copy is still in its shrinkwrap --never played! See Robert Campbell's mammoth and authoritative *Earthly Recordings of Sun Ra* (2nd Edition), item 375, for more details concerning this album. NOTE: I don't deal in Sun Ra bootlegs, of which there are a shameful plethora out there now. I have an extensive collection of original Sun Ra 45s, LPs and memorabilia, and have loaned various of my originals to the Evidence label for legit CD reissue, including 14 tracks to their *Singles Collection* double CD.
