Description
The time has come, that I have to part with one of my most treasured possesions.
Here is a 1963 first pressing Stereo Gold and Black label LP of The Beatles first UK album Please Please Me, most of you looking at this probably know the history of this record, but for those that don't I'll breifly explain. Parlophone were in the process of changing the design of their labels at the time this album was released and basically used up the old stock labels on a low number of pressings of this album, the number that is often mentioned is as little as 900. Probably a significant number of these have met their fate over the last 48 years, and I am sorry to see this go as I'll probably never own another one. I will now try and describe this copy as accurately and honestly as I can, I have tried my best to give an idea of condition in the photos, but records are very difficult to photograph.

Both playing sides show quite a lot of fine scratches and some deeper scuffs and scratches, both labels show signs of spindle wear, Side one label is in slightly better condition than Side Two. I have carefully played both sides to give a description, The sound is better than you would expect from looking at the vinyl, nearly all tracks played without jumping with exception to (side 1 Tr 3) Anna which jumped 3 times, and (side 2 tr 4) Do You Want To Know A Secret? which jumped 8 times. There is some background crackle throughout the album, but it is not unbearable. I would say that a Record Collector grading for this album could safely be set as 'Fair'.
Moving on to the cover, all 4 corners are a bit rounded off, there is creasing vertically down the right hand side and also bottom left corner, The photo credit to Angus Mc Bean can only just be seen as the bottom edge is split the flipbacks have lifted on top and bottom at side opening. There is a name and address written in blue pen on the back cover, a Liverpool address! (who know's? Could have been bought from Brian Epstein's shop!) The poly lined inner sleeve is not the original, although these can be found quite easily. (Update) Good News, I have saved you the trouble! This will now come complete with the correct inner sleeve. If you would like a picture of this I can send on request.
