Description

E.A.R. Experimental Audio Research DATA RAPE
2xLP 1998 UK Space Age Recordings ORBIT 013LP

Peter Kember is an English musician and producer, more usually known as Sonic Boom, and was a founding member of alternative rock band Spacemen 3.

Since the disbandment of Spacemen 3 in 1991, Kember has recorded as Spectrum and E.A.R. (Experimental Audio Research) – the two projects have existed in parallel, and recordings under both names occasionally only feature Kember. He has occasionally performed live under both monikers, most recently in 2008–11 as Spectrum, touring as a band in America and Europe.

'The sound collages on these discs were created using 8 Human voice synthesising toys originally marketed by Texas Instruments as the "Speak & Spell" range during the 1970's. These instruments have been customized with added switches, buttons, knobs & wiring to give phoneme looping, random phrase generation, various modulations, pitch shifting & other non-standard effects.
Some processing with equalisation & effects was then added using a Morley phaseshifter & a modified EMS VCS3.
These discs features 8 "circuit bent" studio compositions with a total running time of 72 minutes.'

This album sounds like if you take a bunch of Acid and fall into ATARI world
