Description

Recorded at the Paris Theatre in London, England, this rare BBC radio program vinyl is in excellent condition with limited playback for air. Slade rose to prominence during the glam rock era in the early 1970s, achieving 17 consecutive top 20 hits and six number ones on the UK Singles Chart. The British Hit Singles & Albums names them the most successful British group of the 1970s based on sales of singles. They were the first act to have three singles enter the charts at number one. As of 2006, total UK sales stand at 6,520,171, and their best-selling single, "Merry Xmas Everybody", has sold in excess of one million copies.According to the 1999 BBC documentary It's Slade, the band have sold over 50 million records worldwide. This is an authentic BBC original ultra high quality pressing. These were made in extremely limited numbers and sent to UK and US radio stations, which played them once or twice and then discarded or returned them to the BBC. Consequently they are extremely rare and sought after. This is in excellent condition and comes with the original BBC sleeve. The BBC Pop Spectacular series (later to evolve to be the "In Concert" series) appears to have started sometime in early 1970’s. These shows were broadcast in England on Saturday at 6:30 pm. Subsequently, in 1972, they began arranging for the recording of 'new' performances to be specifically used for the BBC Pop Spectacular series.
