SIMON & GARFUNKEL - 'BOOKENDS'
UK 1968 *MONO* 1st PRESSING LP
This dedicated MONO mix is considered by many audiophiles to be the best sounding edition of this superb, timeless album.
Extremely hard to find in this format, this true Excellent copy is a UK 1968 1st *MONO* pressing on the textured orange & black CBS label: 63101
Matrices: BPG 63101-A-1 & BPG 63101-B-1
Disc weight: 171g
Housed in a front laminated 'Upton Printing Group' printed unstickered cover.
Complete with its original die-cut orange & white CBS advertising inner-sleeve.

A clean & vibrant set with a handful of light spindle trails to each centre hole but no significant or major blemishes to either.
Visual: EXCELLENT
Both playing surfaces retain all of their 'as new' deep-gloss shines with just a few insignificant surface lines in strong daylight, but nothing I would call a scratch. Close examination directly beneath my powerful halogen desk lamp reveals little more than a sparkling rainbow shine and some wispy inner-sleeve removal paper hairlines but no further traces of wear. This is an extremely heavy pressing which lies 100% flat on the turntable with no traces dishing or warping.
Play: EXCELLENT
This copy has received just a few careful plays on excellent quality equipment and the superior mono mix shines through with immense power and clarity. My careful play check at volume found no evidence of any groove/play wear, just a little light background in a few of the quieter passages and a few ticks on the fade-out of 'Old Friends'. Mono 1st pressing don't come along often and rarely in much better condition.

NEAR MINT
A beautiful 'shop-new' example with an immaculate front panel laminate with no 'thumbnails' or any rubbing or other such wear. All corners and both opening edges are in perfect, undamaged condition and the rear panel is pristine white with no marks, writing or missing paper. Both seams and the spine are all in perfect condition.
Inner-sleeve
EXCELLENT
Clean & crisp with some light storage creasing but no writing, tears or splits.
- Strict & grading under strong daylight & directly beneath a halogen desk lamp to UK 'RECORD COLLECTOR' standards.
- I carefully play every record I sell on an EMT 950 turntable at volume and list all visual and audible faults.
