Description
Now most of you here are looking for the Modern Should/Boogie B side title - Be Yourself - Just Say "No", but Carry Me Back to Old Virginia (New Version) is the A side of this record.
This is a very special copy of Cecil & Loujon's Carry Me Back to Old Virginia. It has a note from Frank J. Guida (RIP) on the sleeve. Frank is the man known for the Norfolk Sound and the man who discovered Gary U.S. Bonds. While previous attempt to change the Virginia state song were to replace it all together, Frank sought to preserve the song, but take out the embarrassingly racist lyrics of the original. Included is a copy of the proposed bill to change the lyrics as well as the sheet music and lyrics to the original song written by James Bland. The paper reis folded and the full legal size paper wouldn't fit my scanner.
A nice collectors item for any Virginia history buff or VA music aficionado. The record has a few small bumps on either side from the pressing but plays without an issue. There are some very light lines on both sides. Only one noticeable mar and a straight rub line on the A side and a very fine scuff on the B side. Mailed in a cardboard record mailer with double inserts. Comes in a plastic dust jacket. Listen to the samples of the actual record below. Carry Me Back Be Yourself
