HEY! I'm Jamie. I wrote all the Saetia songs! And now I'm gradually selling off all my Saetia records because the thought of keeping them fills me with a visceral revulsion that no antiemetic can cure!
This is my father's copy of the first Saetia 7 inch. We all split the recording cost, to my recollection. But when it came down to pressing these two songs to vinyl, we didn't have the capital. Fortunately, my father always expressed his love with money. He agreed to pay for the two songs to be pressed to vinyl, 1000 copies, to be packaged as we saw fit.
Bafflingly, his copy merely had the word 'being' scratched into the scratch board.
He probably never played it. He saw us a handful of times, most notably at ABC No Rio, with my nephew who was only a few months old at the time.
He died on May 10th, 2023.
He was an imperfect man, who inflicted his imperfections on all of us in my family. I suppose we continue to pay for that. But, for better or worse, i couldn't have made this record without him.
This is his copy. It's the only one that exists that ever belonged to my father. Handmade paper, scratch board, record labels stamped, inserts glue sticked together by me; the guy who wrote these songs.
