Description
This is the very scarce ITALIAN issue of the first LP by Switzerlands most popular Beat ensemble of the Sixties: LES SAUTERELLES. They were actually also called the "Swiss Beatles", due to their heavenly harmony vocals. In 1966 they cut their stylish debut album, that featured garage stompers, folk rock (a remake of the Byrds' "Feel A Whole Lot Better" among others) and Beatles inspired pop. The sleeve art and the photos are in stunning 1966 pop art style. This is the ITALIAN pressed version of the LP, even scarcer than the already hard to get Swiss pressing. Very good pressing on thick vinyl.It was published in the "Liverpool Beat" series on the italian Columbia label, bearing some italian sleeve notes, referring to the sucesses LES SAUTERELLES had, when on tour in Italy and playing at the famous PIPER club in Milano. Catalogue number is CPSQ 526. Grading: This copy is not mint, but still in very collectable condition. Sleeve has some ringwear - as almost all of these pressing have, my own copy is only slightly better. I have removed the sticker on the back of the sleevem that is still visible on the photo - it came of perfectly - no tracks of this left. Record has some scratches. Some "popping" on track 2 of side 1 and on the beginning of side 2 (could possibly be cleaned away), but generally playing very well, also in the calmer moments of the LP. I would say this is a VG+/VG+ copy in general, very hard to find a better example. No stickers, writings, tears etc., one label has very slight damage. Low starting price, for a mint copy you will have to pay $ 500 or more, but who has ever seen one?
