STRANGLERS - 'PEACHES' FREE 4 - RADIOPLAY
EXTREMELY RARE PROMO COPY - MINT CONDITION
This is a MINT condition copy of the STRANGLERS second single, issued in 1977 to radio stations, allowing them to broadcast the single. The original version was banned from the airwaves by the BBC due to the rather 'dubious and risque' nature of the lyrics. It immediately brought the band into conflict with feminists and the more liberal contingent of the music press.
FREE 4 was a special catalogue number issued by United Artists to this promotional copy of PEACHES/GO BUDDY GO and was a re-recording with 'cleaned up' lyrics allowing radioplay to promote the single.
