EMI ESTABLISHED THE PROBE LABEL AROUND 1970 AS A SPECIALISED HOME FOR THE ACTS RECORDING ON THE U.S. A.B.C. DUNHILL LABEL WHICH UP UNTIL THEN EMI HAD INCLUDED WITHIN THEIR STATESIDE LABEL

HOWEVER IN LATE 1973/EARLY 1974 EMI UK STARTED ISSUING THESE ABC DUNHILL ACT'S LP'S UNDER IT'S OWN ABC LABEL AND NOT ONLY WAS THE PROBE LABEL WOUND UP BUT MUCH OF IT'S BACK CATALOGUE WAS RE-ISSUED ON ABC WITH NEW EMI/ABC CAT NUMBERS.

ACCORDINGLY 99.9 PERCENT OF ALL COPIES OF THIS LP WERE RELEASED ON ABC AND ONLY A TINY RARE HANDFUL SUCH AS THIS WERE ISSUED ON PROBE !!

Together we have undertaken the task of selling our father’s extensive record collection, which he has amassed during his time as a DJ and music critic. It’s a considerable and unique vinyl collection of albums and singles with many rare items included. In addition to the known rare records there are many demo and promotional items, which were not available for general purchase making them highly collectable. The chronology of the collection stretches from the early 1960s, to the early 1980s. Within this period, there is a concentration of records released between 1965–1969 and 1976-79 : seminal eras for music which is reflected in their collectability. Although the spectrum of musical genre is wide, a considerable proportion of the collection is Motown, Northern Soul, Soul, Reggae, Ska, Punk, PowerPop, New Wave, Mod, PsYcH & FreakBeat records. Fresh rare records usually start on a Thursday or Friday, ending 10 days later on Sunday or Monday evenings. Detailed & Honest Grading Policy We use the ‘Rare Records Price Guides’ grading scale (if you are unaware of this grading system please don’t hesitate to contact me and I will reply as soon as possible with a explanation of how this grading system works). As you can see in the description there is a grading given to vinyl and audio quality. This is necessary because a record may seem ‘poor’ quality when viewed, but when played, the audio quality is often ‘excellent’. Conversely the vinyl quality may seem excellent but when played the audio quality can be quite poor. Professionally cleaned (SMARTMATRIX) ? All records are professionally cleaned with a Smart Matrix cleaning machine before dispatch ? ? All records are securely & professionally packaged within protective plastic sleeves, then within a tough Card Sleeve, with a corrugated card stiffener & record mailers ? We Ship Worldwide IMPORTANT SHIPPING LIABILITY : When you buy a record(s) that cost more than £20 it is strongly advisable that you insure the item before dispatch | This can be done using the postal options – “Special Delivery” (Domestic next day) and or Airsure/ registered (for International), which provide extra compensation (up to £500) and security – If this service is not requested, we can not and will not accept liability of over £20 compensation for items that may be lost or damaged by royal mail, so please bear this in mind when selecting your postage option | However, in all circumstances I will obtain proof of postage which insures the package up to the value of £20.
