“HELLO!”

MEGARARE original VERTIGO Records very first PROMOTIONAL STAMPED STEREO press released in Chile in 1974 by DISCOS PHILIPS (Philips Records), licensed from Vertigo Records, England, through Phonogram International B.V., catalog number 6360 098, with hand etched matrix numbers 6360-098-A EB-CD in Side 1 and 6360-098-B EB-CD in Side 2, with UNIQUE PALE GREEN/black Swirl Vertigo labels!!!

“HELLO!” was originally released in 1973 by Vertigo Records in the UK with Spaceship labels but we had to wait until 1974 to see this album released in Chile and like in so many cases of the period we got it with an UNIQUE COVER. Cover is made of a single piece of thick paper or thin cardboard folded in the middle, so 3 sides are open and kept together inside an adjusted plastic bag. Front and back covers keep strictly the original UK artwork with album title and all text written with silver lettering in English only. The only differences are that in the Chilean issue the black shadows of the members of the band in front cover are almost impossible to see at first sight, and the texts “Warning” and “Printed in England” in black cover were deleted. In back cover you can also hardly see that name of the band and album title are also written but inverted (!!!). Yes Sirs, it looks like if the text of front cover was also printed like a negative in back cover!!! But the major rarity in this MEGARARE PRESS of “Hello!” by Status Quo is in the labels, it’s a swirl Vertigo press with labels in pale green colour!!! Chile is the only country where you can find green swirl Vertigo labels!!! So far we know, only in Germany, Austria, Argentina and Chile this album, Status Quo’s “Hello!”, was released with swirl Vertigo labels and here in Chile we got an UNIQUE PALE GREEN SWIRL VERTIGO LABELS!!! In label, the tracklist is written in English only, with full credits for songwriters and in the swirl is written “Side A”, in English, just like original Vertigo releases, but in the other label it says “Lado 1” and “Lado 2” (“Side 1” and “Side 2”) in Spanish. On the Vertigo swirl Vertigo Records logo it’s the stamp “DISCO DE MUESTRA – PROHIBIDA SU VENTA” (SAMPLE RECORD – SALE FORBIDDEN). So, here you have the chance to get and own one of the rarest Vertigo swirl releases worldwide, with UNIQUE COVER and UNIQUE PALE GREEN VERTIGO SWIRL LABELS!!! WOW!!! A MUST TO HAVE for all Status Quo and or Vertigo Records fans and/or collectors!!! WOW!!!

The cover was already described and it’s in VG or VG+ condition both sides, clean and clear, complete, no marks or names written, faint ring marks, no blemishes, only some creases an bends almost impossible to avoid with these so fragile covers, with moderate wear in all edges, more evident in corners and the mouth edge, with some little rips and a big paper glued at bottom right corner of front cover, maybe glued for the radio station which owned this record originally. The record is in strong EX or EX+ condition both sides, glossy, clean and clear, only with some scuffs and hairlines hard to see at first sight, which don’t affect play at all. Labels are in EX+ or NM- condition both sides, clean and clear absolutely free of marks, with only some minor spindle hole wear. The sound is in strong in EX or EX+ condition both sides, loud, clear and clean, no background noise at all (surface noise is normal in records from Chile), only with some light crackles and soft occasional pops and clicks, more evident in the silent parts between the songs, with some clicks in “Roll Over Lay Down”, “And It’s Better Now” and “Forty-five Hundred Times”, which don’t cause any distraction from the great sound this record keeps from the beginning to the end. Overall, this record could not to be for strict Minty minds or audiophiles, but sure it keeps a cover with still a great look and an amazing sound quality after more than 40 years which won’t disappoint anyone!!! And don’t forget this press has an UNIQUE COVER, UNIQUE PALE GREEN SWIRL VERTIGO LABELS and UNIQUE INVERTED name of the band and album title in back cover!!! WOW!! We don’t use the generic “VG” most of South American sellers use to hide poor quality conditions or “NM” or “Mint” for records which aren’t even clean and sound less than a normal “VG” in professional standards. We use the Record Collector’s Grading System with a little modification: we don’t use MINT grade but for Sealed records and we can use a + or – to show a most professional accurate description.

MINT (M): I only use this grade for Sealed records.

NEAR MINT (NM): The record itself is in like new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality (only some very very very light hairlines caused for the record rubbing the sleeve). The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in like perfect condition.

EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality, maybe some surface marks which doesn’t affect play. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR (F): The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR (P): The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD (B): The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.

We have an unique value worldwide: 

GBP15 for weight until 1kg (usually 1 or 2 records 12" depending of thickness of the vinyl)

GBP25 for weight 1-2kg (usually 3-5 records 12")

GBP7 for one 7” record

All records will be packed outside of the sleeve to avoid damages in the cover and all records will be sent with tracking number via Small Packet or Parcel Post services.

We don’t have anything to hide and we know the buyers expect to receive feedback after to pay for the items they win. Most of sellers say to give feedback when buyers leave feedback first.
