= SP 8510 The Magic Bow Michael Rabin NM/EXC Violin HEAR
Description
SOUND SAMPLE AUTO STARTED WHEN YOU OPENED THE PAGE, TURN UP THE VOLUME...
Better dynamics than a comparison UK original pressing..... read on......
Here is a sound sample of 7 minutes 49 seconds, first 4 minutes 25 seconds is of opening track side 1, side 2 commences at 4 minutes 40 seconds, also the opening track. AS you can hear no damage in either of these crucial areas. Unfortunately your tinny computer speaker and the poor sampling rate of my turntable (192kbps) is NOT going to display too much sound quality, but will indicate to bidders how relatively clean the record is. Yes there is occasional unrepetetive quiet tics and pops, but visually this LP is unmarked LIKE NEW, no scuffs other than the type you see in bright sunlight only and you will have trouble finding anything even then.
TURN up the SOUND and listen while you read on.
I also have a mono Rabin LP UK 33cx 1281 for auction View My Other Items For Sale
Rarely ever seen in Australia and without having to read my more elaborate report,
exc LP/ NM minus JACKET
Audibly very CLEAN, no sign of wear damage in FULL replay, LP test played after wet wash bath,
This really is very pleasing, to listen to,
TRACK LIST
NO Rotational spindle marks. THE VERY OCCASIONAL unrepetetive tics indicate it has been played, but well looked after.
The Magic Bow, Michael Rabin (Violin) and The Hollywood Bowl Symphony Orchestra conducted by Felix Slatkin Capitol STEREO Recording, very rare and desirable. In the thousands of classical LP's I have seen, I have only ever seen this LP three times, here it is again but in a cheaper format than the UK pressing I sold 2 years ago for 355AUD to a very happy Japanese collector. I kept an australian pressing for my personal listening as the side by side comparison to the UK pressing showed this was far superior in all areas except the pretty cover and label !!
This pressing when compared to a UK press had better Dynamics, less vinyl noise, louder recorded volume directly off the vinyl, (MY db meter does not lie) and the UK one sounded flat and had no life compared to this australian pressing. Why an I selling it now? because I have recently aquired a similarly alive and dynamic OZ pressed mono, and I am happy withn that, so I release this to the care of someone else who wants a truly fine pressing at an affordable price. Get in quick before too many people start to become aware of the quality of the OZ press Magic bow compared to the UK USA press!!!
Stock code Capitol SP 8510 (WRC S 5129) pressed from USA masters with N2/N2 stampers, visible in supersize shots, and in the same bold italic script style as the Commercial release in Australia on CAPITOL label and covers. This was pressed at the same EMI press as the Capitol OZ retail version, so is exactly the same (I compared them).
This LP fully cleaned and test played prior to listing,
IF this was an original US or UK pressing, some on line retailers value it in mint condition over $500aud. Recently on Ebay the American pressing has fetched at auction nearly that in recent months. Even the OZ press Retail press has reached $250. The good news is this plays like mint, and sounds better than an expensive UK pressed capitolLP that I sold, but will be a bargain for somebody who wants a vinyl copy from original stampers.
This is however an Australian LP, bt this is the sort of record that begins to challenge the notion that australian pressings were not as good as the UK USA originals.
The keen starting price for this LP reflects that this is an AUSTRALIAN pressing, NOT THE UK or US PRESSING.
CONDITION (summary, more detail further down)
LP is very clean looking for its age,AND GAVE NO EVIDENCE OF WEAR OR DAMAGE DURING TEST PLAYING. I CAN SEE NO PAPER SCUFFS, DARE I SAY IT IS extremely clean and silent on test play, perhaps a few crackles in between tracks, but I noted nothing of any significance during test play to distract from this classic Violin album's enjoyment during play. A little note on the perceived quality of Australian Pressings. When I sold the UK pressing a while ago I compared the sound quality to an OZ World Record Club pressing, and I concluded the Australian pressing was more dynamically pleasing, and had a higher recorded volume than the UK pressing (my Db meter says so) Accordingly, I actually had my cake and ate it, as I sold the UK pressing and kept the nicer so called less valueable one to enjoy.
According to the stamper numbers and the 'Look' of this pressing made by EMI Australia, it is identical to the retail version OZ pressing with the original beautiful cover. SO HERE'S YOUR CHANCE TO OWN A VERY RARE OZ COPY, RARER I RECKON THAN THE US OR UK VERSION, SIMPLY BASED ON LOW POPULATION OF OZ COMPARED TO THE OTHERS AT TIME OF PRESSING (12 MILLION POPULATION) and the fact these were exclusively pressed for members only by pre order which by definition makes this a limited edition !!
LABELS
Very clean, NO SPINDLE MARKS.
FULL TEST PLAY REVEALED ONLY ONE OR TWO SMALL POPS.
I try to test play as best as I can all my auction items that start for more than 20AUD per disc. As far as I know EMI australia pressed these from a set of original Capitol USA Stampers.
WAX CODE SIDE 1 SP1 . 8510 . N2
SIDE 2 SP2 . 8510 . N2 (yes, N2, same as side 1)
Hopefully you can see one of the stampers on the supersize photo's, they are in a thick bold itallic(?) style of lettering. and have exactly the same depth and placement as THE RETAIL VERSION copy aforementioned.
I dare say as OZ only had 12 million population in the 60's, the number of these still in existence would be far fewer than from the UK or USA where there were lots more potential 'buyers' for their pressings.
Check out my other items! including LP rarities Auctioned through this week
Record came to me obviously cared for. However I HAVE cleaned it
COVER Condition
It has minimal rubbing of the AUSTRALIAN Printed LAMINATED cover, with NO ring wear. NO edge wear or tears
The rear card is well maintained, cardboard rubbing of the surface is very minimal. NO yellowing, just a smal crease in rear card bottom corner near LP edge. (bottom right rear corner)
The original inner sleeve was only a plain plastic sleeve in Australia, and having just cleaned the LP so well, I am supplying a more modern archive quality sleeve with anti stat and no scratching properties. This is from the modern audiophile company Mobile Fidelity (MFSL) and is standard issue with their vinyl pressings.
ITEMS are located in AUSTRALIA, see further down for Australia Post Rates to your destination!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
USA buyers, due to recently enforced air security measures, please note if this is delivered to USA (or Territories) there is now a 9AUD (6GBP) handling surcharge PLUS the normal post charge (x ray search) so that is why postage to USA destinations is so expensive in the postage Tab!!!!
Australian buyers can pay in AUD,
UK Buyers BE AWARE !! Post limit of 4GBP as stipulated by ebay, (even for overseas sellers) GOOD NEWS!! unlike other sellers I will only charge the 4GBP to Post it to you BUT BAD NEWS..... It will arrive via the same method as if it was posted in UK, by SURFACE MAIL, and as that involves a slow ship via China and other indirect world zones it may take upto 3 MONTHS to get to you. There is an option on your UK invoice for Economy mail, which will be by Air Mail and therefore the regular 10-15 days, SO UNLESS you want to get it VERY SLOWLY.... I would strongly recommend paying the optional invoice amount of GBP14.85
I have input world postal zones into the UK Invoice, check the postage tab for a world zone quote of the postage to reach you in GBP
Postage calculator NOT WORKING ACCURATELY when I live in Australia....... Item will be mailed from Australia, see list of world zones just below for air mail rate from Australia.
If you only purchase this item, normal post rates as quoted will apply from Australia (in AUD$ for reference, 1GBP is approximately $1.50AUD)
based on LP and packing weighing 500 Gms. POST COST FOR WORLD ZONES is AS PER THE TABLE BELOW Quote is for Australia post cost rate, plus a brand new box and packing (custom Manufactured = $2)
NOTE Item is located in Australia, and yes!!! aren't post rates expensive from Australia !!!! If you win this item, then actual post costs are as below in Australian dollars, PLEASE IGNORE FIGURES DISPLAYED IN POSTAGE TAB BY EBAY, THEY FAIL TO RECOGNIZE ITEM WILL BE POSTED TO YOU FROM AUSTRALIA !!!
They include air mail rate(you pay) + PACKAGING ($2 ).
Every 250 gm (extra auction wins) added to this win or others only adds a further $8 to the UK/Euro zone, only $6AUD to USA etc, and just $5 for Asian zone, so extra LP's are cost effective

NO .... Paypal does not cover me if its not insured, I know I have looked into the situation EXTENSIVELY!!

IF insurance is required on any Missionselit purchases please be aware I CAN ONLY INSURE BASED ON THE CUSTOMS DECLARATION STATED VALUE, PLEASE BE AWARE SHOULD YOU BE LIABLE FOR ANY CUSTOMS ON A SECOND HAND LP IN YOUR COUNTRY, YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THAT PAYMENT (UK, Sth Korea, Germanyand possibly Malaysia has this problem I believe).
