Description
Up for auction is a nice, clean copy of the Sonny Rollins album "Tour De Force" released on Prestige Records (PRLP 7126) in 1957. This is a guaranteed, original mono deep groove first pressing with RVG in the run-out groove. Correct first pressing "W. 50th St., NYC" address on labels. Comes with the original factory onion paper inner sleeve and an audiophile protective sleeve for the vinyl.
Front cover is in very nice condition with a high gloss shine to the lamination. No separations or bubbling, no ring wear. Corners are in good shape, though upper left is slightly bumped, the other corners show a little bit of rubbing. Lower right corner edge shows about one inch of rubbing loss (see photos). Back cover is very nice and clean, bone white. No significant ring wear to speak of. Top titles show a very small amount of rubbing, though nothing serious (see photo). No significant age discoloration, no seam splits or cracking. I would grade this cover to be EX (Excellent), just below near mint because of the minor seam rubbing.
The vinyl is in beautiful condition with very few, if any, signs of previous handling or play. Nice original glossy sheen to the vinyl faces, no scratches or scuffs. Labels are bright and clean. Plays a beautiful full-bodies mono sound with little, if any, background noise to distract you. A very clean example of this record. I would grade the vinyl Near Mint (NM).
This copy was purchased years ago from jazz guru Fred Cohen at the Jazz Record Center in New York City. He graded this copy as Near Mint, and it's been played once since then and remains in the exact same condition. One of the nicest copies of this rare Rollins album that you'll find. 100% satisfaction guaranteed, no risk buying.
