VINYL RECORDS WITH COVERS AND PICTURE DISC GRADING STANDARDS

RECORD AND COVER GRADES WILL APPLY TO THE NEXT LOWER GRADE. EXAMPLE: SPLIT SEAMS, BUMPED CORNER, IMPRINT, PAPER MARKS, ETC.

RECORD MINT :...Record has no noticeable imperfections. The record (old) may have an imprint on record from plastic and/or inner paper sleeve which sometimes comes from never being out of the sleeve and/or from other record being pressed against album jacket. The record has an almost full to full glossy appearance. No label wear or discoloration or major imperfections. May show spindle wear and/or mark.
45 RPM RECORD:...M or M- means PERFECT or NEAR PERFECT. Looks and plays like new, or perhaps just a hint of use or handling. No imperfections and no surface noise. If it looks like is was used or there is some background noise, it is not mint.
COVER MINT :...The lettering and the picture cover art colors are bright and clear, fresh and sharp looking. There is no visible wear. Manufacturing defects are minimum, if any at all. NEAR MINT RECORD/or MINT- :...Record has a very few (some) minor surface imperfections in the form of near invisible paper marks. No SCRATCHES or surface marks that jump out at you. The record has a fully glossy appearance and/or very minor loss of glossy appearance. Label wear should be barely noticeable, if noticeable at all, but still retain its original color. The record should play without any surface noise. ANY concerns, please ask.
NEAR MINT COVER/or MINT- :...At first glance the cover appears new, but upon closer inspection, will reveal hardly noticeable wear. SEE SCAN PHOTO! Cover art colors are still full, but may be a little subdued. White areas will or may show very slight tanning. CLASSICAL BACK COVERS ONLY:NOT VERY NOTICEABLE SMUDGES. (FROM BEING PRESSED AGAINST OTHER RECORDS) AROUND RECORD PERIMETER (THIS IS NOT A LP RECORD RING). DGG LP: ALBUM CORNER MAY HAVE A MINOR BUMPED AND/OR FRAYED CORNER. EXCELLENT RECORD :.....NO SCRATCHES and/or surface marks that will make your needle skip. Record has a few (some) noticeable imperfections and/or surface marks, such as paper marks or vinyl marblelizing from inner plastic sleeves, things of this sort. Record is glossy and/or may show some loss of gloss and may display minor (from being played)) wear, but still looks beautiful. Label may display some imperfections, but nothing that takes away from its original appearance. Record may play with very slight surface noise, but nothing that is/or too distracting.
45 RPM RECORD:...EXCELLENT. Played, stored, and handled carefully. Sound quality is easily good enough to record. Negligible background noise. Recorded music and vocals are crisp and clear with no distortion. Only a few small surface scuffs, and maybe a couple of very light, small, surface, hairline scratches, neither of which cause any noise. Vinyl is shiny and/or small loss of gloss.
EXCELLENT COVER : ...Cover will display some very minor wear and maybe an almost invisible lp ring on front and/or back, but no very serious defects or imperfections. Cover art colors and lettering is complete, but may display minor shelf wear (friction). The corners are relatively still squared, but may have a very minor bumped and/or frayed appearance. White colors may show signs of some tanning and a little discoloration of the other colors. CLASSICAL BACK COVERS ONLY:NOTICEABLE SMUDGES (FROM BEING PRESSED AGAINST OTHER RECORDS) AROUND RECORD PERIMETER (THIS IS NOT A LP RECORD RING). DGG LP: MAY HAVE BUMPED AND/OR FRAYED CORNERS, BUT NO SIGNS OF A LP RING. VERY GOOD TO EXCELLENT RECORD :...Record has noticeable surface marks and/or a scratch or 2 but no major imperfections (warp, dents or deep gashes). Still will display some gloss. Label can show some wear and some noticeable imperfections, but no major wear. Record wil play with some very slight surface noise, but nothing that will impede and/or distract too much from the overall sound.
VERY GOOD TO EXCELLENT COVER :...There will be some moderate wear on the cover art and/or on the back, but no serious problems. Visible lp ring on the front and/or back of cover. There will be no "major" fraying of and/or split corners/seams. Corners bumped. VERY GOOD RECORD :...Record has several very moderate and/or one or more major decrepencies (surface scratches)that may effect play on a track or so. Record gloss may or may not be noticeably visible. Record may play with some surface noise, but nothing that overwhelms the overall sound. Label has several moderate and/or 1 or 2 imperfections, such as the following: stains, tears, writing, dates and also discoloration. Maybe all or just one.
45 RPM RECORD:...A few noticeable surface scuffs and scratches that may contribute just slightly to noise. Possibly a few isolated light clicks or pops. May still be recordable, but some light, non-distracting background noise could be detected on the recording. A majority of shine still left on the vinyl.
VERY GOOD COVER :...The cover displays overall signs of wear, that include lp ring on front and/or back. There may be spine and seam splits and writing, minor tears or stains and possibly other abuses. Corners bumped and frayed.
GOOD GRADE: 45 RPM RECORD...GOOD does NOT mean bad. Still a worthy addition to a collection. Noticeable background noise that may not be uniform and is approaching the level of the music. Music clarity may be fading and some distortion may becoming obvious. Several obvious scuffs and scratches, some of which may contribute to noise, such as clicks or pops. Vinyl has lost some of its sheen.
ALL RECORDS ARE VISUALLY GRADED. Album covers and Picture sleeves aren't usually very detailed in the descriptions. The very, very clear scans will compensate for more in-depth detail in addition to the description. Ask your questions before bidding.
