This sucker is in amazing shape.

I’m not this record’s first owner, I’m his second.  Like all the other vintage punk I’ll be listing, I got this guy in exchange for helping a friend move in the mid 80’s.  My turntable exploded before I had a chance to listen to any of them, and they all went to sleep in a storage box.  This 7” has not been played for the better part of three decades...

Pressing/Version

I mostly used discogs.com to determine the pressing here; please check my photos and notes to verify I’m right before spending your money.  This is the first pressing- side A is etched “L-5211” and “IRR.001.A . JOIN THE ARMY”; side B is “L-5211-X” and “IRR.001.B . SUBURBAN BOREDOM”.

General Condition

I played each side of this record two or three times with a new stylus on a turntable that’s notorious on Amazon for its skipping tendencies (it’s got an insanely lightweight tone arm.) My system isn’t good enough for me to accurately judge the disc's fidelity, but the needle never skipped, and the needle never got stuck. The best photos can be outrageous liars; below are the flaws I managed to spot from a close visual inspection. There are very few on this particular disc.

I’ve tried to capture the record and sleeve’s strengths and flaws with the large photos here, but don’t hesitate to contact me for larger photos or any questions on condition.  If you need me to take a closer look at some specific part of this guy, no problem.

Specific Condition

The disc itself looks fantastic.  All I caught was a shallow line and some faint scuffing across part of track 1 on the first side; I saw nothing I could object to on the second side.  There’ll be a trace of the cleaner I used a few days ago on the end grooves-I just didn’t want to get the liquid too close to those beautiful center labels.

Center labels are great and the sleeve is very, very good.  The photos show its corner folds; the lower one hides a tiny (1mm) tear.  Its back has a slightly curved portion that could either be a near fold or an impression from the inside disc.  It comes complete with its original inner sleeve and transparent outer sleeve.  The neon is still bright enough to blind you.

This is great music in complete condition, in completely amazing condition.

Disc and sleeve will be packed separately to prevent any damage to the cover art, and all will be ludicrously well-protected for their journey to their new owner.  I’ll be absorbing a good portion of the shipping cost because I just can’t see subjecting this glorious piece of history to the stupidity that is Media Mail.
