Bids invited on "Ska-lip-Soul" Blue Beat LP 805, by Prince Buster and his All Stars. The title refers to the Ska-Calypso-Soul content, but soul is only represented by Buster's great version of respect. The albums joy is the excellent horns throughout, by Val Bennett and crew, lending great weight to the calypso tunes especially.
Condition wise, the cover is pretty good, there's a split at the centre of the vertical spine, otherwise the spines and corners are ok. There's no writing or tears, though the rear cover has a fair amount of shelf soiling.
I've played the whole Lp on full treble. The A-side of the vinyl is pretty clean, there's one mark on the first track that leads it to skip briefly, otherwise it plays very well, with some light crackle but no background hiss. The B-side looks pretty rough to be honest, lots of obvious marks. Remarkably it plays very well, again there's a very small skip leading into the instrumental on track two, otherwise no heavy pops or background hiss, just some crackle here and there. Remember this is on full treble, so it would sound much better played with the treble down.
Needless to say this is a rediculously rare LP, and a joy to be able to offer up for auction. Have fun bidding, no reserve and a £1 start price.
