This is hard for me to do, because I'll probably never get my hands on another one quite like this again...

Up for auction, on the occasion of Searching for Sugarman's Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature, is the legendary second album from the once-forgotten GOD of American singer-songwriter urban poetry and protest music, Sixto Rodriguez.  An ORIGINAL COPY on SUSSEX...STILL SEALED!  This copy came from a warehouse which holds literally 100s of 1000s of deadstock records purchased over the years at auction from closing radio stations and record stores.  Cover has a small hole punch in upper-right corner, so probably a promo copy or one that simply never sold because no one cared...until now!

Sixto's music has been a highly sought after favorite of collectors of obscure psych rock for decades.  Now, with the release of Searching for Sugarman, which was just awarded the Oscar for best documentary feature, he is finally beginning to gather the following his music deserves.  If you've seen the documentary you know what a poignant relic the fact that this record is still sealed with a hole punch is... of his initial plight and lack of success in terms of sales: he was let go from his label on the day of the release of the this record, AS eerily foretold in the lyrics of the last song on the album, in which he sings, "lost my job two weeks before christmas" which, in a kind of tragic irony, was the day the record came out and he was dropped...really heavy stuff.  IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THE DOCUMENTARY, GO WATCH IT NOW.  It's great.

Beautiful production on the audio and artwork, which boasts a die-cut gatefold cover.  Small hole punch in upper right corner, and the shrink has a little tear at one corner, which shows some wear.  NM-
