EX/EX Used Audiophile Vinyl Record
Record Label: Sheffield S-9
This is the BIG one... the very first Direct-To-Disc release that ushered in the era of the audiophile recording! Extremely hard to find in this nice condition.
This is an original Sheffield Lab Direct-to-Disk, Limited Edition Audiophile Pressing. Sheffield are the pioneers of Direct-To-Disc recording and had much to do with the advent of the "audiophile" label put on recordings that exemplify top standards in recording, mastering and pressing. Long out of print, these original Sheffields are considered to be some of the finest recordings ever produced.
Record cover has light ring wear on the front. Corners are dull. Both spine corners are stubbed causing a crease. B&W back cover has a couple of small drip stains. Original plum color, tower label has no spindle marks. Vinyl looks clean but play grade reveals a small amount of surface noise in spots. Nothing major.

Review: Review: The very first Direct To Disc album by Lincoln Mayorga (Sheffield S-9). Recorded in 1968 as an experiment and released in only quantities of 1000 which is why it is so RARE today.
Originally sent out to Stereo stores, the record was an immediate hit as a demo record because nobody had ever made a recording that was this dynamic before. It is, quite literally, the VERY FIRST modern audiophile recording. It opened the door to what would become a cottage "audiophile" industry: Direct Disc, Half Speed, DBX and digital recordings. It is truly a piece of music history.XXX
