PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Much has been whispered about this rather unknown Soft Machine effort, we quite like it regarding it's atmospheric delivery w/ abstract progression interplays ....
Recorded: April, 1976 at De Wolfe Studios, Soho, London
Recorded around the time of Soft Machine "Six" in the mid '70s, The fourteen tracks were never meant to be released as a proper Soft Machine album; they were made for use as ‘library music’. That was a common action in the UK; many (famous) musicians to record some music, which could be used for a movie, a commercial, a background for… you name it. The ‘what the music is’ is added with the tracks: ‘Crunch’ for instance is ‘driving, riffy, dramatic’ whereas ‘Pavan’ is ‘slow, dignified, slightly sad’.
Best summed up by Soft Machine guitarist John Etheridge, who says: "These sessions took place at De Wolfe studios in Soho, around April 1976. The project was instigated and composed by keyboard extraordinaire Karl Jenkins for soundtrack music use, and the other members of Soft Machine at the time, drummer John Marshall,bassist Roy Babbington and myself, played on the session. The line-up was augmented by Karl’s wife Carol Barratt, playing second keyboard (Mike Ratledge had left during January). As far as I can remember all the recording was completed in one day and the band played live in the studio – no overdubs being used. Because of the line-up and the composer these sessions reveal its essential features of the band as it was in 1976.
