Description
This is an original 1961 TEXAS BLUES,1st pressing of MANCE LIPSCOMB "TROUBLE IN MIND" AMERICAN FOLK SONG TRADITIONALIST" R-2012 on REPRISE RECORDS. The record is in very good condition, I have played both sides and it has some noticeable surface noise on side one, most on 1st track "Captain Captain". Side two is very clean but it does have a skip on the second track. This album was re-released in 1970 on REPRISE and most recently in OCT 2023 on Destination Moon Records. The sleeve in good condition, but does have a split spine and separation on the sleeve ( approx 6" on the top and 8" on the bottom, please see pics.) The album does have it original record sleeve with the lyrics, very cool and a real piece of Americana.
(Here is the blurb from Forced Exposer Mail Order, from the 2023 -re-issue)
The son of a slave and of part-Native American heritage, Texan blues songster Mance Lipscomb began recording albums in 1960 after the Arhoolie label became aware of his talents, the work coming at the start of the country blues revival, which he became a key part of. The excellent follow-up Trouble In Mind, released by Reprise in 1961, has top-notch renditions of favorites such as "Alabama Bound," "Ballad of the Boll Weevil" and "Motherless Children," the latter with great slide guitar work, yet somehow the LP sold poorly, rendering it a sought-after rarity. Definitely one of Mance Lipscomb's best!
The sleeve in good condition, but does have a split spine and separation on the sleeve (approx 6" on the top and 8" on the bottom, please see pics. If Jack Reacher had a record collection this would definitely be one of the records in it.
