SAX 2579 B/S T/S Milstein Violin RARE, NOT RED SEMI !!!

Description

SOUND SAMPLE AUTO STARTED WHEN YOU OPENED THE PAGE, TURN UP THE VOLUME... and have a READ .

THE FIRST EDITION OF THIS LP WAS OFFICIALLY ISSUED WITH THE RED SEMI LABEL AS 1ST PRESSING, BUT HERE FOR YOUR EYES AND EARS TO WITNESS IS A TURQUOISE LABEL SAX 2579, RARE AS proverbial hens teeth, because it was pressed in Australia, but the label Rarity is as high as it gets (only one I've ever seen and I LIVE in the country they were pressed in), and the sound quality is GREAT, certainly in comparison for what you will pay for a similar condition  English record. (and I can't find a re issue CD of this complete record anywhere, just two tracks released in different Milstein box sets, but the BACH Double Concerto does not appear to be re released anywhere on CD)

Starting bid is as high as it is, because I have previously sold T/S label OZ PRESSED Milstein SAX 5254 and SAX 2508 to Astute internationaly buyers, and I like this one personally, SO ! TO get it out of my NON Greasy hands, the opening bid is 59.99GBP

UNLIKE EVERY OTHER OZ PRESSED COLUMBIA USING UK STAMPERS, THIS IS THE FIRST ONE I HAVE SEEN WITHJ POSSIBLY AMERICAN STAMPERS, HOWEVER I CAN FIND NO REFERENCE TO WHAT THE STAMPER NUMBERS ARE FOR A GENUINE UK PRESSING.  THE NUMBERS ON THE RUNOUT DEAD WAX OF THIS ONE HOWEVER ARE 36006 - A5 AND 36006-A7, WHICH ACCORDING TO MY RESEARCH IS THE STOCK NUMBER FOR THE USA PRESSING,

HOWEVER until someone messages me with the correct numbers for the UK pressing, (look for questions attached to end of listing) it is possible that UK used a master from the USA, as this performance was originally recorded in New York at CAPITOL Studios in 1964

BUT THE NOVELTY VALUE ALONE OF THE T/S LABEL MAKES THE PRICE STILL WHAT IT IS, OR I KEEP IT FOREVER !!!

Stereo copy NM Lp / vg++++ cover  Full replay tested, THIS is as good as it gets for clean, only a few paper scuffs visible in Sunlight only. HOWEVER THE DOWNSIDE FOR MOST OF YOU THAT WILL MAKE THIS AFFORDABLE IF YOU GENUINELY WANT A COPY OF THIS PERFORMANCE ON A T/S LABEL COLUMBIA IS THAT THE STAMPERS FOR THIS WERE IN AUSTRALIA WHEN THIS RECORD WAS MADE.  Mind you the only place you will ever get another T/s label of this, is Australia, ...and this is the ONLY one I have ever seen. So don't let me discourage you further from Bidding!!!

UK Columbia recordings were pressed in Australia at EMI Sydney, often using an imported Master stamper from the UK, and although I find no reference to the stamper numbers on a UK SAX 2579 record, I think they MAYBE the  same numbers as on this LP.  ( S1 36006 -A5 AND S2 36006 -A7 )ANYWAY I would prefer this Visually stunning NO SCRATCHES PRESSING, THAN A SLIGHTLY SCRATCHED UK PRESS IF I WANT GREAT MUSIC. AND YOU KNOW THE VINYL QUALITY IS PRETTY GOOD IF I DO SAY SO MYSELF (AS AN AUSSIE, UNBIASED AS I MAY BE.......) I have sold some OZ pressed columbias to discerning buyers around the world, some for over 60GBP, for really rare ones, and comments returned to me were they were VERY nice pressings, and comparable to the UK ones, especially considering the perceived value difference. By the way this is the only SAX O 2579 (OZ Pressed or otherwise) I have ever seen, they are as rare in OZ as they are in the UK.

COVER CONDITION   VG++++  Cover has an Australian rear card, stuck into the laminated UK Cover printed in October 1965(see genuine stock number and Garrod and Lofthouse on rear flipback next to date "6510"

ONLY  faults are a slightly stained top right rear corner, near stock number and brown stain marks on other sections of REAR. Some slight yellowing to the OZ unlaminated rear card, and  the front laminate has a couple of small creases top and bottom near opening edge. There is only the very early laminate dullness before ring wear occurs, rear yellowing is so minimal, Generally, it is absolutely beautiful. (not even the usual brown staining along glue edges near seams or laminate!!!!)

LP CONDITIONSEE Photo's, BOTH sides have just a few faint spider web scuffs only in sunlight, play test has only infrequent pips and tics as per normal vinyl replay BEAUTIFUL, AND THE DYNAMICS ARE GREAT.  Historical sales of this LP as a UK pressing that I find reference to having been play tested, also mention occasional pops and tics, so as per the sound sample If you think the representational sample of the first track from each side gives you an idea of the worst of the tics, as they seem to always be worse near the edges, then believe me the rest is no worse than this.

SOUND SAMPLE GUIDE First 3 min 54 secs is of opening side 1, (BACH) then I trfr to the

side TWO (Vivaldi) WHICH IS THE second track 4 MINUTE 48 sec

8MIN 42 SAMPLE IN TOTAL.Some soft repetetive tics around the 2 minute mark. side 2 but no obvious mark on the LP, replaying that section after doing the sample softened the tics slightly, maybe some sticky dust (?)

BE aware the sound sample talked about IS A LOW SAMPLE RATE AND accentuates treble (Hence more static crackle that you DON'T hear through your Hi Fi) and is low quality, but you get the idea.

Yes I have pretty much fully test played this after professionally washing it,

ITEMS are located in AUSTRALIA, see further down for Australia Post Rates to your destination!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Australian buyers can pay in AUD,

UK Buyers BE AWARE !! Post limit of 4GBP as stipulated by ebay, (even for overseas sellers) GOOD NEWS!! unlike other sellers I will only charge the 4GBP to Post it to you BUT BAD NEWS..... It will arrive via the same method as if it was posted in UK, by SURFACE MAIL, and as that involves a slow ship via China and other indirect world zones it may take upto 3 MONTHS  to get to you. There is an option on your UK invoice for Economy mail, which will be by Air Mail and therefore the regular 10-15 days, SO UNLESS you want to get it VERY SLOWLY.... I would strongly recommend paying the optional invoice amount of GBP12.90

IN CASE AN OVERSEAS BUYER PAYS THE INVOICE BEFORE I GET TO ADJUST IT IN LINE WITH THE CHART BELOW, A REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL FUNDS OR A REFUND IF OVERPAID WILL SOON FOLLOW!!!!!

Postage calculator NOT WORKING ACCURATELY when I live in Australia....... Item will be mailed from Australia, see list of world zones just below for air mail rate from Australia, do not pay automated ebay invoice (IF ONE ARRIVES) until receiving adjusted postage invoice.

NO..... I will not reduce the stated value of the LP on any customs declarations, Australia post bases its insurance on the declared value, so if I understate it I am at risk of losing its value should it go missing, You as a buyer are covered by paypal protection, so bid accordingly.

NO .... Paypal does not cover me if its not insured, I know I have looked into the situation EXTENSIVELY!!
