This album is presented for its historical value, its vinyl value, its beautiful 'Lables' (BOTH STELLAR ~ NO wear seen), and as a very rare *'1ST' Pressing (A1/B1), which can be exceedingly difficult to find in any condition.

Please see for yourself...check out the pictures!

*Matrix Numbers in trail-off vinyl (dead wax; both sides), end with '-1'. On SOME labels, suffix '-1' denotes the very first, original pressing.

The Record;

~Sides of vinyl;

(side 1) graded VERY GOOD+ (VG+), and still just beautiful. Much 'shine and gleam'.  Label is stellar; NO spindle marks/wear.  The surface is still nice with light 'sleeve-scuffs' and a few 'hair-likes'; CAUTION>Side one shows a minimal number of small 'hair-likes'. One very light, superficial, surface 'hair-like' is more than 1.1/4 inches long (1 inch = 2.5 centimeters); cannot be felt with a finger nail but may leave some light, quiet 'tics'. There is a minimum of 'graying' (very insignificant when compared to the shine and gleam).

(side 2) graded STRONG VERY GOOD+ (STRONG VG+), just beautiful. Again, much 'shine and gleam' along with some 'graying'/and some 'sleeve-scuff'. NO real 'hair-likes' found on side 2. Label is stellar; no spindle marks/wear.

~The 'Cover';

(very rare and hard to find); The cover is worn (Although, We've seen A LOT WORSE)...

The surfaces are not bad ~ very little ring impression on front and none on back. Corners are in great shape for age. ALL words on front and back are completely readable. A few 'hair-like' scratches are seen on front along with some other wear.  The top and bottom seams are split and repaired with scotch tape (done very well). Spine is fully readable, yet has some light wear; i.e., front, lower left corner, small 'peel' leaving out the number '1' in album number (A2001). NO writing. (please see pictures ~ and please ask any questions).

SAM COOKE ~ At the top with his 1958 self-titled album on Keen which featured one of the greenest evergreens in the entire history of early soul: the legendary 'You Send Me.' Sam Cooke was brought to Keen Records (from 1957 to 1959) by the A&R man of Cooke's previous label, Specialty, 'Bumps' Blackwell. Blackwell's orchestra is also featured in this awesome collection of some of Cooke's best hits, starting with the 1957 breakthrough masterpiece 'You Send Me' and unwinding through other gems like the impressive rendition of Fats Wallers' 'Ain't Misbehavin'' and the traditional 'The Bells Of St. Mary's.
