Roxy Music Country Life LP With Original & Replacement Covers

I think one great line of vinyl collecting is when initial issues of LP covers are changed due to complaints from record company executives, from censors, or from the buying public.

Remember the Beatles “Butcher Cover” and the Mamas & Papas “Toilet” Cover? Or how about the Dave Clark Five “No-Instruments” Cover or Blind Faith’s “Topless Girl” Cover? And don’t forget Three Dog Night’s “Nude” Cover and their “Birthing” Cover. Replacement covers were issued for all of these original covers.

Here in this auction you can win Roxy Music’s original cover for their “Country Life” LP as well as the replacement cover for. So in this auction are 2 LPs (Vinyl & Covers):

LP #1:

• “COUNTRY LIFE” LP by Roxy Music

• This LP was released by ATCO Records.

• This is ATCO SD 36-106.

• It was released in 1975.

• This ORIGINAL COVER has 2 women in their underwear (semi-nude). It was found to be objectionable for obvious reasons. The ladies are standing in front of bushes or a hedge.

• On the replacement cover, the ladies are gone but the bushes or hedge remain!!

• The ORIGINAL COVER is in VERY STRONG VG to VG+ CONDITION. There is light wear on the spine and top seam and heavier wear on the bottom seam. There are some slight areas of discoloration on the abdomens of the ladies. This appears to be a production flaw with the coloring or tinting of the slick that occurred at the time of manufacture. These areas do not have the characteristics of water damage or water spotting. In my opinion, this does not detract significantly from the image on the LP’s front cover. There are NO tears, NO ring wear, NO writing, NO creases and NO seam splits.

• The VINYL that comes with the Original Cover is in NEAR MINT CONDITION.

• This LP also comes with its ORIGINAL GLOSSY CUSTOM INNER SLEEVE with song lyrics. It has a 7-inch split on one edge, a 3-inch split on the other edge and a 3 ½ -inch split on the bottom edge.

LP #2:

• “COUNTRY LIFE” LP by Roxy Music

• This LP was released by ATCO Records .

• This is ATCO SD 36-106.

• It was released in 1975.

• On this REPLACEMENT COVER, the ladies in their underwear are gone but the bushes or hedge remain!!

• The REPLACEMENT COVER is in VG+ CONDITION with very light overall wear. The corners have light wear with a very small corner push on one corner. There are NO tears, NO ring wear, NO writing, NO creases and NO seam splits.

• The VINYL for this cover is in VERY STRONG VG to WEAK VG+ CONDITION with several very light/slight surface hairlines/scuffs (none “feel-able”).

• This LP also comes with its ORIGINAL GLOSSY CUSTOM INNER SLEEVE with song lyrics. It has a 10-inch split on one edge, a 6-inch split on the other edge and a 4 ½ -inch split on the bottom edge. It also has some heavy creases and a couple of ½ -inch tears at the top opening. (It is not in as good condition at the inner sleeve on the original cover.)

So, in this auction, you get both the original and replacement covers. These 2 LPs go hand-in-hand and would look great framed in someone’s “vinyl room”!
