Description

Vargara Ricordi 71.4.002L. Recorded in Rome in 1962. 6 tracks with the Ensemble. Besides the leader pianist, Mussolini, includes Cicci Santucci, trumpet; Dino Piana, trombone; Gianna Sanjust, clarinet; Carlos Loffredo, bass; Franco Tonani, drums. Tunes include Rollins’ “Saint Thomas”; Duke Jordan’s “Jordu”. 5 trio tracks include Mussolini, Lofferdo, Tonani. Includes Bobby Timmon’s “Moanin’”. Notes in Italian by Arrigo Polillo. The style for the most part is swing to bop. Very rare. Cover: VG to VG+. Soft European cover with record ring on front and back cover. Several small spots on the bottom of the back cover. Intact with light aging and bottom of the back cvoer. Intact with light aging and some light overall wear from age and handling. Old price written in very small print on the back cover. Record: VG+ or better. Visually shows no wear. There are some occasional click and crackles though the appearance is clean. This indicates that some of this is in the pressing and not due to wear. In general, this surface noise is intermittent but some of the clicks and crackles repeat. There are no scratches but some audible noise in places. These seem more evident on the trio tracks but only on some tracks, not all. Audibly checked.
