Description
This was The Stones first live appearance in two years and, since that 1967 European tour, guitarist Brian Jones had contributed less and less, only appearing on two tracks on their album in progress, 'Let It Bleed'.
It was decided that Jones should be replaced by Mick Taylor who had impressed the band after being invited to play on the 'Let It Bleed' sessions. The gig itself was overshadowed by the death of Jones, who was found drowned in his swimming pool just two days earlier.
Under rehearsed, nervous and emotionally drained the gig wasn't great. The guitars were badly out of tune and Mick Jagger was struggling with hay fever and laryngitis.
As a tribute to Brian, Mick read two stanzas of Shelley's poem on John Keats's death, Adonaïs, before releasing hundreds of butterflies.
A digital print on 150 gsm silk paper, it measures 59x42 cms, comes ready to frame and I'll post it in a sturdy cardboard tube.
