Description
Possibly original pressing of Red Garland "Live" on the blue trident labels of Prestige NJLP 8326. The reason for "possibly original" is that, in 23 of business and over 45 years of collecting, this seller has never seen another copy of this record. The Ruppli's Prestige discography lists NJLP 8326 as near the end of the New Jazz listings, with 8327 as the final entry. The cover has a Prestige/New Jazz catalogue number and trident on both front and back. It may very well be that by this stage in Prestige's history, the purple labels had already been replaced by the blue trident labels. If so, it is equally important to note that the labels show a catalogue number of NJLP-8326, not PRLP-8326. Taking all this into consideration, it would suggest with 99% certainty that this is the original pressing. If any eBay reader has or knows of a copy with purple labels, an e-mail, and if possible, a scan of the labels, would be appreciated. As to the grading of this item, the playing surface is immaculate, with a high luster; perhaps played once or twice. The non-laminated cover is bright and clean throughout, with minor rubbing to the bottom edge.
Personnel includes Jimmy Rowser and 'Specs' Wright.
