Description:   PLEASE NOTE There appears to be a red line running down the label on my auctions this week. This line is from my scanner and IS NOT on the actual labels. 1980 Promotional only label, 12" Disco single, 33 1/3 RPM. Generic White sleeve with writing on sleeve.

GRADING GUIDLINES

I utilize the following grading standards when grading my records. They are essentially Goldmine standards, with Excellent (EX) substituted for Very Good Plus (VG+).

If you have any disagreement with the grading of my records, just let me know and I will refund your winning bid and return postage expense, no questions asked, upon return of the record in the condition it was mailed.

Mint (M): Absolutely perfect in every way. I never use this grade for any record.

Near Mint (NM): A nearly perfect record. The record shows no obvious signs of wear. 45 picture sleeves should show signs of slight handling and minor. An LP jacket should have no creases, folds, seam splits, or other noticeable similar defect. The same applies to inserts. If there are cut out holes or other promo marks the sleeve can still be graded NM, but the marks will be noted in the description. Basically a NM record looks like you just removed the shrink-wrap.

Excellent (EX): An Excellent record will show signs that it has been played and otherwise handled by a previous owner who took good care of it. Record surfaces may show slight signs of wear and may have slight scuffs or very light scratches that don’t affect ones listening experience. Slight warps that do not affect play are OK. The label may show some ring wear or discoloration, but it should be barely noticeable. The center hole is not misshapen. Picture sleeves and LP inner sleeves will have some slight wear, lightly turned up corners, or a slight seam. An LP jacket may have slight signs of wear as well. In general, if not for a couple of minor things this would be Near Mint (NM). All but the most mint-crazed collectors will find an Excellent record highly acceptable.

Very Good (VG): Surface noise is evident upon playing, but will not overpower the music. Groove wear will be noticeable, as will light scratches (deep enough to feel with a fingernail). Labels may be marred by writing, or have tape or stickers (or their residue) attached. The same will be true of picture sleeves or LP covers.

Good (G): Good does not mean bad. I will only sell a Good (G) condition record if it is extremely rare, other wise it is not worth my reputation offer that low of a grade. A Good record can be put on a turntable and played without skipping. But it will have significant surface noise and scratching and visible groove wear. A jacket or sleeve will have seam splits. Tape writing, ring wear and other defects will start to overwhelm the object.
