Description

Rarest Surf LP ever! The Revels On A Rampage ORIGINAL!! What you are bidding on is the rarest Surf instrumental album in the world....The Revels "On A Rampage" on Impact Records. This early 60's gem is a true local pressing that had limited or no distribution when it was released....and now it is absolutely impossible to find.

The Revels were a Central Valley California band, hailing from Fresno, CA. They had a tough, Duane Eddy meets Link Wray approach to surf music, and had an early hit with "Church Key." Many years later The Revels would find fame when their "Commanche" was used in the 'Pulp Fiction' movie soundtrack!

The Revels early 45's are fairly common, but their lone original LP is by far THE rarest surf album in the world. Even the mere mention of this album among serious surf collectors causes hands to tremble!

Do NOT confuse this album with the 90's reissue album "Intoxica" on Sundazed Records. This album is guaranteed original from the early 1960's.

Note for conspiracy buffs: This album was produced by Tony Hilder (who also wrote the genius liner notes), a fascinating character in the history of surf music. Hilder produced a lot of surf albums for Del-Fi Records and other labels. Later he became a supporter of Barry Goldwater and uber-conservative causes. He was present at the assassination of Robert F. Kennedy at the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles on June 5, 1968 and figures into some conspiracy theories of the killing. A truly obscure and bizarre side story to the history of surf music!

Condition: I would grade the cover at VG to VG+. There are a couple corner bends, spine wear, and worst of all a removed sticker in the middle of the "V" in Revels (see photo). Rear cover has original pencilled-in price of $1.50 in upper left corner. Overall it is very presentable cosmetically and looks good. This was a BUDGET album originally, printed very cheaply, so even mint copies look somewhat "worn," if that makes any sense. The vinyl I would grade at VG++, almost a M-- with a few surface scuffs not affecting play. The album plays very well with minimal ticks and pops. Overall this is a VERY nice condition copy of this extremely rare album. I dare say it may be years before another copy of this rarity comes on ebay again. Don't let it slip through your fingers!

Don't miss this opportunity! Bid now!

IMPORTANT: Ignore the shipping calculator as it is always inaccurate. I will ship this for actual shipping so I will send quote when the item is boxed up and ready to ship. 99 percent of the time it's much less than the stupid ebay shipping calculator!

Buyer pays actual shipping. As with any vintage item, sold strictly "as is" so please study the photographs and email me with any questions before bidding. Due to repeated incidents of mail fraud, Canadian bidders must either accept shipment with no guarantees or refunds, OR pay for registered shipping for guaranteed receipt. Thank you very much! Good luck and happy bidding!  248 (GS 5.1.3 (248))
