I’ve seen but never had a VOGUE PICTURE RECORD before. I picked this one up in a trade with some LPs.

In this auction is:

·       VOGUE PICTURE RECORD R724

·       Side 1 has “EVERYBODY KNEW BUT ME” written by Irving Berlin and performed by Frankie Masters and his Orchestra.

·       Side 2 has “SWEET I’VE GOTTEN ON YOU” by Willard Robinson & Brad Reynolds and performed by Frankie Masters and his Orchestra.

·       This is a 10-Inch Record that plays at 78 RPMs.

·       VOGUE PICTURE RECORDS were produced by SAV-WAY INDUSTRIES of Detroit, Michigan.

·       Based on the catalog number R724, it is likely that this record was produced in 1946. The first 10-inch Vogue picture record (catalog number R707) was released to the public in May 1946 and production ceased less than a year later in April 1947, when Sav-Way went into bankruptcy in August 1947.

·       R724, in this auction, was one of approximately seventy-four different 10-inch Vogue picture records that were released.

·       There are no written records as to how copies of R724 or any of the other picture records were produced.

·       The records were produced using a complicated process whereby a central core aluminum disc was sandwiched between the paper illustrations and vinyl. When Sav-Way entered into bankruptcy, many of the left-over records were melted down to recycle the aluminum used in the core of the record.

·       The RECORD is in STRONG GOOD to VERY GOOD (VG) CONDITION. It has some scratches and scuffs. Several of the scratches can be felt with your finger, so if played, there will be some popping. However, I don’t think almost 70 years later that these picture records are bought to be played. There are also some minor vinyl faults (which are little bumps) here and there on both sides, none that appear significant enough to affect play (if the record is played).

·       According to the AVPRS (Association of Vogue Picture Record Collectors), R724 is considered (along with 3 other picture records) to be “POPULAR” with collectors.

·       It seems that it has been a while since the last time a VOGUE PICTURE RECORD R724 came up on Ebay.

·       Surely there is some collector who needs it!

I included LOTS of images of it, as it reflected the flash frequently, so I changed positions to try to have images without much flashback.
