Description: Presented for your consideration for the first time is a very rare recording made by the silent film star Rudolph Valentino. Mr. Valentino traveled to New York to create this recording on May 14, 1923 and did so at the Brunswick Studios accompanied by his wife Natacha Rambova. The recording, issued by Celebrity Records, was not released until 1930, four years after his death, due to contractual and artistic differences. This fine item does not have a record number however, it does have trailer numbers 33579A and E33580A. The selections recorded are The Kashimri Song, sung in English and El Relicario, sung in Spanish. The picture of Valentino on the label was probably taken from a poster advertising Valentino's motion picture, The Four Horsemen Of Apcolypse.
Condition: This record has been graded overall as near mint. It has very light surface scratches and rub marks. These issues do not affect the audio. Surface wear is almost nil, notice the deep black shiny color. Wear is not descernable around the hole which is a must for collectors. The label itself is near mint almost as fresh as the day it was printed. The record does not retain its original sleeve but has been handled with cotton gloves.
Background Information: Rudolph Valentino was born in 1895 and died very young in 1926 at the young age of 31. The great film star was nicknamed The Dark Lover, The Ultimate Lover and The Sheik after the title of his movies. he was adored by millions of women who would swoon at his very picture. During his short life time he made 32 movies between 1917 and the year of his untimely death in 1926. NOTE: Only one record was ever recorded. Valentino was an exceptional dancer, outstanding actor but was never recognized as a singer. This was an era of the Silent or Silver Screen. Many actors and actresses were not able to make the transition from silent pictures to talkies. An unknown mystery woman placed a single white rose upon his burial sight for years.
