This is an amazing private press LP from 1972, out of Los Angeles! The singer is Edith Hill, the skillful and versatile band is SELAH, and they are accompanied on four of the eight tracks by a children’s chorus. How does it work? Probably significantly better than you might imagine! One discovers a sound and a consciousness that would be quite at home on the Black Jazz, Strata East, or Tribe record labels. Strong political/social conscience, hip instrumentation (including liberal doses of electric piano and flute), musically interesting compositions that careen effortlessly from jazz to funk to psychedelia, and a strong righteous sense of purpose. In some ways, it reminds me of the Muriel Winston record on Strata-East, but with more political edge. The combination of biting, satirical lyrics with a children's chorus makes for some very powerful statements. The whole thing was well recorded in one of L.A.’s classic studios, the now defunct Gold Star.

The vinyl is clean and shiny. There are few (if any) marks. The record plays very nicely all the way through!
The cover and labels are also in very nice condition and show almost no signs of wear.
