Vinyl looks GREAT, with minimal wear.
This is from an estate and is
described to the best of my ability.
Record company: Pilat Steyr Nr. 3164 & 3167
Side one is: Freundlich blick ich from Rigoletto
Side two is: Hier an dem Herzen from Carmen
Singer: Arthur Cavara, Tenor*
*His real name was Art?rs Vilhelms Priednieks.
Son of a worker, since 1924 he sang at the
theatrical choir of Libau, where he also took over
smaller solo parts. From 1927-31 he studied
singing in Berlin, from 1935-37 in Vienna.
He changed his name to “Cavara” in honor of his
favorite role, Cavaradossi.
Cavara's success and stardom peaked in the 1930s,
but due to World War II and Joseph Stalin’s invasion
of Latvia in the early 1940s, his singing and recording
career was cut short; subsequently, many of his
recordings have been lost or lie in obscurity.
Accompanied by: von der Berliner Staatsoper
mit Orchester begleitung.
Record is marked, von der Berliner Staasoper
(Berlin State Opera?) believe this is a German
opera company based in Berlin.
