RUPERT'S PEOPLE
"A PROLOGUE TO A MAGIC WORLD / DREAM ON MY MIND"
Original DEMONSTRATION SAMPLE 45 on the COLUMBIA RECORDS lable cat# DB 8278 From 1967
A time when ethereal dreamy pop was becoming more and more influential ....and 'influenced' by the substances around at the time. Nods were often made to Lewis Carrol's 'Alice In Wonderland' for the bizarre psychological story that it is, whether an innocent imaginative child's story - or...??
Reading into that fascinating tale, made it certainly worthy of attention from psychedelic bands anyway! This group grew out of the seeds planted by Mod band Les Fleur De Lys, a great group of renown who had several offshoot projects after this period. The singer at the time decided to concentrate of this band and formed a new group, making 4 excellent singles, one of which was only issued in North America ('Love Opus', which was a new take on the classic 'Rock Me Baby').
Adrian Curtis/Gurvitz was brought in on guitar (later of GUN, Three Man Army & Baker-Gurvitz)
The flip side to THIS cool piece, was actually to become the noted track; "DREAM ON MY MIND"!
It's really a nice guitar-strong Mod tune, again with a big nod to the UFO Club times,
and the ideas of "Dreaming" taking over the regular daytime thinking! Hmm :?)
It's an excellent track, and for me it could have been the 'A' side.
Here is a historic single in its' first appearance on 7" vinyl in the UK, on a DEMO Sample pressed for reviewers or DJ's.
A nice rare edition of a classic record.
The vinyl is in VG+ playing condition, a good shine but a few surface marks and a fair amount of scuff.
The labels are VG+ with some writing (see photo) perhaps from a reviewer or DJ or maybe there had been a lable correction? Odd to re-state the clearly intended top side, anyway.
The flip side is bright and clean EX with no stickers or markings.
