UK jazz ensemble Ruby Rushton - don't be bamboozled by the proper first name, this is a group - steps into a new phase with their fifth album crafted by bandleader Tenderlonious and keys player Aidan Shepherd. Unlike their earlier live, one-take temerities, the group - now with trumpeter Nick Walters and drummer Tim Carnegie - here layer horn and flute parts over original takes, bringing an action-stations studio aftertouch to an already proven improv mettle. Recorded over four lively days in early 2025 at Rimshot Studios, Kent, tracks like 'Charlie's Way', 'La Nina' and the three-part 'Theme From Legacy!' unfold with richer textures and expanded sonic landscapes, offering a fresh POV on the cerise jazz foundation Ruby Rushton share.
