On offer here is a VERY, VERY, VERY RARE Rolling Stones SOUTH AFRICAN pressing of the giant unboxed DECCA LK 4661 LP Record, simply titled “ROLLING STONES” (their first release in South Africa in 1964/65), with an inscription by Andrew Loog Oldham on the rear of the cover sleeve. This album hardly ever gets offered for sale, and here is one in STUNNING condition to whet your appetite!!!

WOW! What can I tell you about this absolute “must-have” for your collection. This is a Rolling Stones CLASSIC with the “blind man” reference on the rear of the sleeve. My research on this LP has not turned up too much information. I have spoken to a very knowledgeable Rolling Stones collector and supposedly only a few copies have ever been offered for sale over the years. As the Stones were virtually unheard of in South Africa in the mid-60's, not many of these pressings were produced! A unique chance here to purchase this LP and add a true RARITY to your collection.

The condition of this record is remarkable considering it is 40 years old! The COVER has no tears or rips and condition is commensurate with the age of the album. The colour is good and still fresh looking although the lower edging of the front laminate has lifted slightly. The rear of the cover sleeve has some slight 'foxing' which I'm sure can be treated or removed by an expert. No writing is evident on the cover sleeve (with the exception of what appears to be a signature on the inside of the sleeve, and not visible unless closely inspected) and it should be rated VG to VG+ as per the table below.

The record also has its ORIGINAL inner sleeve, printed in South Africa!

The VINYL is exceptionally clean, and the giant UNBOXED (Red) Decca label is in SUPERB condition, although the same signature as mentioned above has also been written on the Side 1 label near the spindle hole (see picture). The record has seen little early playing and has been carefully stored for the last 30 years! There are NO deep marks, groove wear or scratches that impede the quality of playback. I would rate this a solid VG+ to EXCELLENT according to the table below.

CONDITION GRADING TABLE

NEAR MINT (NM): - A nearly perfect record. The record should show no obvious signs of wear. Sleeve should have no more than the most minor defects, such as almost invisible ring wear or other signs of slight handling.

EXCELLENT To VERY GOOD PLUS (EX to VG+): - Records in this category will show some signs that it was played but handled carefully by a previous owner who took good care of it. Record surfaces may show some slight signs of wear and may have slight scuffs or very light scratches. Sleeves will have some ring wear or discoloration, but it should be barely noticeable.

VERY GOOD (VG): - Very Good condition records will have slightly more pronounced defects than VG+ including surface noise, groove wear and light scratches that may affect the sound.
Sleeve and/or label will be marred by writing or have tape or stickers, although not ALL of these faults may be evident at the same time.

GOOD To FAIR PLUS (G to F+): - A record in this category can be put onto a turntable and will play through without skipping, but it will have significant surface noise and scratches and visible groove wear. Sleeve can have seam splits and appear stained or grubby.
