This is a 1972 FIRST PRESSING of the 1972 U.S. London / Abkco Records 2 LP Rolling Stones 21-track hits compilation titled 'Hot Rocks 1964-1971', featuring the ALTERNATE MIXES of the songs 'Brown Sugar' and 'Wild Horses'. It is London / Abkco Records catalog number 2PS 606/7. Matrix number hand-etched in the dry runout area on Side 4 is XZAL 11018, along with the name 'SHELLEY' and the date 11-18-71, signifying an absolute first pressing with the alternate mixes. The package also includes the original foldout advertising insert which came with early pressings of this album, with the title '211 Reasons Why The Rolling Stones Is The World's Greatest Rock And Roll Band' - As shown in the accompanying image (which shows just one side of the insert), this insert shows pictures of all of the early London label Stones albums dating from between 1964 and 1972, with the song titles listed for each album. Tracks on this album are: Time Is On My Side, Heart Of Stone, Play With Fire, (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction, As Tears Go By, Get Off Of My Cloud, Mother's Little Helper, 19th Nervous Breakdown, Paint It Black, Under My Thumb, Ruby Tuesday, Let's Spend The Night Together, Jumping Jack Flash, Street Fighting Man, Sympathy For The Devil, Honky Tonk Women, Gimme Shelter, Midnight Rambler (Live), You Can't Always Get What You Want, Brown Sugar (ALTERNATE MIX), Wild Horses (ALTERNATE MIX). Condition of both records is VG+ with each record having some visible surface marks which cannot be felt and do not affect play, and a couple of very small surface scratches which can barely be felt on the track 'Get Off Of My Cloud' on Record 1. THERE IS NOTHING THAT CAN BE FELT ANYPLACE ON RECORD 2 OR ON THE TWO ALTERNATE MIX TRACKS 'BROWN SUGAR' AND 'WILD HORSES', THESE TWO TRACKS PLAY PERFECTLY! Condition of foldout advertising insert is a real nice VG++/NM- with a couple of very small and slight wrinkles as the only real flaws. Condition of gatefold cover is a low to mid VG+ with small splits in the top and bottom edges of the front gatefold, a small tear along the spine, some contact and ring wear, and some wear along the edges and on the corners. Cover has no writing or stickers. This first pressing with the alternate mixes is a rare and sought-after item that would make a choice addition to any Rolling Stones or classic rock record collection!
