ROLAND KIRK "RIP, RIG & PANIC" mono lp on Limelight LM 82027 US issue 1965 VG/VG+. (New dealer: Please check my About Me page.)
I would grade this LP VG. I will only auction VG condition LPs that are “classic recordings” or just very old, interesting and hard-to-find LPs. These records will have a healthy amount of play and visible scuffs or lines that do affect play. The record still plays through nicely; it’s just an obviously much-appreciated recording. Still way better than no copy at all, and in my opinion, still better than a CD. This lp has had a good amount of play but still retains a lot of it’s shine. THIS IS A VINTAGE COPY. This plays better than it looks. It actually plays out at about 90% VG+. This is my favorite Kirk lp and he is my favorite musician. The sidemen are perfect for Kirk and are equal to his energy. The Players: KIRK; JAKI BYARD; ELVIN JONES; RICHARD DAVIS. Five stars all the way here.
The Jacket: (I don’t rate any jackets with my initials NM) In black magic marker, my initials back upper left, an x back lower left. A very functional jacket. I would rate the cover VG+ overall with normal seam and corner wear and very minor ring wear back only. This is a great gatefold with a fold out ctr. exposing two great pictures of Kirk and an attached booklet with more pictures and the liner notes.
