Description
Here's a three record BOX SET from ROBERT ASHLEY titled ATALANTA (ACTS OF GOD). This is an original pressing released on the Lovely Music Records label, VR 3301-3, in 1985. Box set includes three vinyl LPs and a booklet with words (libretto). 'Atalanta' is the first part of Robert Ashley's opera trilogy: see 'Perfect Lives' (part 2) and 'Now Eleanor's Idea' (part 3). 'Atalanta' combines Ashley's characteristic minimal 'pulse'-style piano-organ music with operatic aria, spoken/sung narrative, chance events and pre-recorded chorales. Chilled, mesmerizing and compelling music, 'Atalanta' relies on the chance combinations of the various musical lines.
