Description
LED ZEPPELIN II RL Robert Ludwig Side One 1969 rare HOT MIX 1st U.S. pressing with thick cardboard matte gatefold cover with original inner sleeve-
RL (Robert Ludwig) SS etched in the matrix on side one, SS L.H. (Lee Hulko) etched on side 2. Early rare pressing of this title featuring withdrawn mix later remastered to eliminate "excess" bass.
Played all the way through to determine condition.
As noted above, side 1 vinyl is VG, with more scuffs & wear than side 2, but nothing deep or that can be felt with a fingernail…pops and crackles can be heard at the beginning of track one, the end of track 4, quiet spots & in between the song tracks. The noise is not really apparent during the louder passages and of course, the Ludwig mix really shines on these tracks…
Side 2 vinyl is really clean, just a couple light “paper scuffs”, minimal wear and is a lot quieter than side one, with minimal popping and crackles..
Listening to both sides carefully, this side 2 mastering or “mix” is just as awesome as the side 1 RL mix, I think comparable to the versions with both sides “RL”…(I’ve had quite a few of these over the years)
All tracks play through fine without skips…
Almost impossible to find these in clean condition, but the good thing is that even beat copies rock hard because of the recording and the mix which is very loud in volume and mastering so tends to obscure a lot of the crackles and noise..
COVER is in VG toVG+ Condition with shelf wear along the seams and spine but all are intact. Spine is solid (see photos). Some light rubbing/staining on white areas of cover. Name written on back side right edge… Inner gatefold looks excellent! (Broadway address)
INNER SLEEVE in VG with small tear & age/weathering…
Side 1 matrix runout: T ST-A-691671-1A RL SS Side 2 matrix runout: T ST-A-691672-D SS LH
Really great rare example of a superb record!
