(WELL TEMPERED CLAVICHORD BOOK 1)
RICHARD BUHLIG
Private pressing
2 record set
Numbered (#21) and signed 'Richard Buhlig' on the label on side 1
INSANELY rare recordings
Excellent condition; I have no way to play them but I've sold shellac records before and know how to grade. Some very faint scratches and sleeve burn, and a chip on the edge of one disc that does NOT go into the grooves (I've shown both sides in photos 5 & 6). Still glossy; they would probably benefit from a light cleaning from a VPI or similar disc washer. At about 80 years old, no matter how well they were cared for the are bound to have accumulated some dust in the grooves.
From Popsike:
Richard Buhlig (1880-1952) was an American-born pupil of Theodor Leschetizky who eventually settled into a teaching career in Southern California that was marked by occasional local performances. His musical interests veered toward intellectually challenging works and new music (the young John Cage, in fact, studied with Buhlig) rather than Romantic virtuoso staples. While Buhlig did not record commercially, he made private recordings of Beethoven's Hammerklavier and Op. 109 sonatas, plus Bach's Chromatic Fantasy and Fugue and a Prelude and Fugue from the Well-Tempered Clavichord.
There were no traditional sleeves for this set, but I will ship in a substitute.
