Ray Charles - 'Eleanor Rigby / Understanding'. SS 2120.
Ray Charles 1968 UK 1st DEMO pressing of the 'Eleanor Rigby / Understanding' 7" single. Released on the 12th July 1968, and offered here in solid VERY GOOD+/EXCELLENT- condition.
These initial early demonstration pressings would have been given out to important reviewers and radio stations prior to the release date. Released on the Stateside label and housed within the original and correct company sleeve both sides of the vinyl state: 'DEMONSTRATION RECORD NOT FOR SALE' and the release date of 12.7.68. Unusually the 'MT' tax code is embossed within the a-side label, quite strange considering the 'MT' tax code ended in July 1963. This contradicts the 'KT' tax code which is embossed within the run out area (see below). A wonderful version of The Beatles Lennon/McCartney song offered here in the rare UK DEMO format.
The Matrix numbers are:
Side 1. 45KR 8254-1 1 G KT
Side 2. 45KR 8255-1 1 G KT
The vinyl is in VERY GOOD+ condition.
The a-side label is in VERY GOOD+ condition, minor sticker residue and stamp to the center. The b-side label is in MINT- condition.
The sleeve is in EXCELLENT- condition. Minor creasing.
