EAST OF UNDERGROUND / SOAP

Extremely rare original copy. I believe only a few copies are know to exist on this one. These two bands were made up of soldiers stationed overseas in Europe in 1971. They won a special service showband contest and were given studio time to record an album. The Army pressed a small number of double albums - seems like the band may not have even known any were pressed.

Pretty good short doc on youtube about East of Underground done by Wax Poetics when they reissued it in 2008. But you'll have to google it - it messes up my player to have a link in the listing, sorry.

Condition: COVER: VG-, creasing, discoloration, top seam split, bottom seam 6" split edge and corner wear, minor ringwear. VINYL: East of Underground: VG+, good gloss, a few light hairlines and scuffs, occasional tics and light crackles, nothing consistant or troubling. Soap: VG+/VG-: A side: some light hairlines and scuffs (nothing deep) that create occasional tics and light pops but don't get in the way of the music. B side has a scratch that doesn't appear deep but causes surface noise throughout play. 

Here are clips of 3 tracks from East of Underground and one from Soap - directly from the record - no filters were used. In general the actual record playback is much better. But this will give you some idea of play condition. 

There is a reasonable reserve on this item.

RECORD GRADING

 We grade conservatively, and aim to describe the records accurately. We grade visually according to Goldmine standards, with the addition of an Excellent (VG++ or E)grade for the hazy grey area between Near Mint and VG+. This grade applies to records with one minor flaw that makes it no longer Near Mint, but still above VG+.
