As "The Yale Collegians, dir. Les Laden", Rudy Vallee and his Connecticut Yankees serve up an out- of- charachter piping hot version of "You'll Do It Someday- So Why Not Now?", Vallee's ONLY released Edison side! The vocal is sung by a great male trio, unquestionably including Rudy. This side is a glistening high E+ that plays like new, and was recorded 26. September 1927. On the "R" side of Edison Diamond Disc 52108, Dave Kaplan and his Happiness Orchestra play "Barbara", another nicely arranged hot dance foxtrot with a vocal by Billy Jones. This side was recorded 22. Sept. 1927, and is every bit as clean as the Vallee side. A fantastic copy of a fantastic Diamond Disc! ADDENDUM: As a side note, after reviewing the Rust discographies on this session a bit further, it appears that this MAY be Rudy's first record, as it is almost a year prior to his 1928 sides for the Columbia subsidiaries of Diva, Harmony, and Velvet Tone. Rust indicates that Rudy is in the band, but since Vallee is given a long, hot solo sax chorus after the vocal, he's clearly the 'star' of the band, if not the de facto director. It's strange that the director, "Les Laden", is not one of the known personnel in the discography. Only Rudy and a trumpeter are actually named.
 This is an intriguing record, indeed.
