RARE Folk - Ellen Stekert BALLADS OF CARELESS LOVE
This auction is for a recording of folk songs made in 1956 by the seller of this auction, Ellen Stekert (ejs1). If the buyer wishes, we will autograph it.
This album is a rare document from the 1950s, the beginning of the folksong revival that eventually blossomed in the likes of Joan Baez and Bob Dylan.
The notes were written by Harold Thompson, a Cornell Professor at the time, and the cover photo is by Howard W. Mitchell, also a student at Cornell in the 1950s.
A copy of this album just sold for over $82 as item #16018760097 on eBay. We suggest you search this sale for more information about this recording.
Only about 1,000 or 2,000 copies of this album were pressed. It was produced by the Cornell Recording Society at Cornell University, where Stekert was doing her undergraduate work.
This copy has been out of the cover only once, for these photos. The cover is in near mint condition and the record is mint.
