Description

Link Wray's "Rumble" is the only known instrumental ever banned by some radio stations in the US  The 1958 hit had to do with the feeling that it's title and sound might incite gang violence.  Nontheless, Wray and His Wray Men pushed the blues-like song to #16, remaining on the national Top 40 for ten weeks.  The song eventually was used in various productions, including the January 1999 pilot episode of The Sopranos on HBO.  Wray was noted for pioneering a new sound for electric guitars and pioneered an overdriven, distorted sound. Most adults hated it, most kids loved it.  B-side, another instrumental, is The Swag.  Both label and vinyl are exceptional..
